Energy, Net Zero, Sustainability

Posted 1st October 2026

My client, a highly regarded environmental and sustainability consultancy, is looking to appoint a Sustainability Consultant or Senior Sustainability Consultant to join its growing London team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced sustainability professional who wants to work on high profile built environment projects within a collaborative and forward thinking consultancy.

You will work across a diverse portfolio of projects, with a particular focus on whole life carbon, circular economy and BREEAM, helping clients embed sustainability throughout the design and development process.

A particular strength of the business is its integrated approach to sustainability, working closely with specialists across nature, ecology, biodiversity and natural capital to develop practical, nature positive solutions rather than simply meeting minimum compliance requirements.

The Role

Depending on your level of experience, you will take responsibility for managing your own projects or delivering key sustainability workstreams within larger multidisciplinary projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking whole life carbon assessments and modelling, interpreting results and helping project teams use these to inform design decisions and optioneering.

• Developing and implementing circular economy strategies across a variety of development projects.

• Producing whole life carbon assessments, circular economy statements, sustainability statements and other sustainability related planning submissions.

• Managing BREEAM assessments, including pre assessments, workshops and the certification process.

• Managing smaller projects or specific workstreams within larger projects, ensuring they are delivered effectively and commercially.

• Attending client and project meetings and providing clear technical sustainability advice.

• Working closely with clients, architects, engineers, planners and other environmental specialists.

• Supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team where appropriate.

About You

My client is interested in speaking with candidates with approximately 3 to 5 years' experience at Consultant level or 5+ years at Senior Consultant level.

You will ideally have experience across:

• Whole life carbon assessment and modelling
• Circular economy principles and strategies
• BREEAM assessments
• Sustainability within the built environment
• Sustainability and planning related reporting
• Client and project management

Knowledge of NABERS, Passivhaus and the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard would also be beneficial.

BREEAM Assessor or AP status and relevant whole life carbon qualifications would be advantageous, although these are not essential.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

My client has developed an excellent reputation for both the quality of its work and its supportive, friendly and family orientated culture.

You can expect:

• Exposure to a diverse portfolio of high profile projects
• Excellent opportunities for career progression as the team continues to grow
• Significant investment in training and professional development
• A collaborative environment where sustainability, ecology, biodiversity and nature are genuinely integrated
• Hybrid and flexible working, including the opportunity to work from abroad for a set period each year
• Competitive salary and discretionary bonus
• Enhanced pension contributions
• 23 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
• Enhanced family policies
• Two paid volunteering days each year
• Health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits

The position is based in London on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of three days per week in the office.

For more information or a confidential discussion about the opportunity, please contact Jeremy Money at JSM Associates.
