My client, a highly respected multidisciplinary environmental and engineering consultancy, is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Contaminated Land Consultant to join its established London environmental team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced contaminated land professional who wants to work on complex, high-profile development and brownfield projects within a genuinely multidisciplinary environment.
You will join a strong team of environmental specialists and work alongside planning, engineering, environmental and urban design professionals, providing contaminated land advice to private developers, public-sector organisations and other major clients.
The Role
You will take a leading role in the delivery of contaminated land assessments, with responsibilities including:
Leading and delivering contaminated land assessments and technical reports
Managing and supporting junior consultants
Managing ground investigations and liaising with contractors
Developing conceptual site models and supporting contaminated land risk assessment
Project management, including programmes, budgets and financial control
Working closely with multidisciplinary project teams
Liaising directly with clients, regulators and other stakeholders
Providing practical solutions to complex contaminated land and brownfield issues
Supporting proposals, work winning and wider business development
The role will be predominantly office/hybrid based, with site visits required when appropriate.
About You
You will already have good experience within contaminated land / land quality consultancy and be comfortable taking responsibility for both technical delivery and project management.
Ideally, you will have:
A degree in environmental science, geology, chemistry or another relevant discipline
Strong knowledge of UK contaminated land legislation, guidance and policy
Experience delivering contaminated land assessments across a range of development projects
Experience managing or supervising ground investigations
Strong technical report-writing skills
Experience managing projects, budgets and programmes
The ability to mentor and develop junior colleagues
Confidence dealing directly with clients and stakeholders
Membership of a relevant professional body, with Chartered status or working towards it
Experience of large-scale, multi-plot developments, remediation and brownfield regeneration would be particularly valuable.
