My client is a highly respected environmental and sustainability consultancy working at the forefront of international biodiversity and natural capital advisory. They work with leading financial institutions, investors and developers, helping to deliver complex infrastructure and renewable energy projects across the globe in accordance with international environmental standards.
Due to continued growth, my client is seeking to appoint a Technical Director to provide technical leadership within its biodiversity team while helping to grow its lender advisory practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced consultant with a strong reputation in the market, an extensive network within the international finance sector, and a proven ability to win and deliver high-value consultancy projects.
The successful candidate will work with banks, development finance institutions, investors and project developers, advising on biodiversity risk, due diligence and compliance with the IFC Performance Standards and the Equator Principles. Alongside technical excellence, you will play a key role in developing client relationships, generating new business and mentoring members of the biodiversity team.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
Providing technical leadership on complex international biodiversity and lender advisory projects.
Advising banks, lenders and investors on IFC Performance Standard 6 (PS6), the Equator Principles and biodiversity risk management.
Leading biodiversity due diligence, critical habitat assessments and mitigation strategies for major infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective clients across the banking, investor and development finance sectors.
Identifying and securing new business opportunities, preparing proposals and contributing to strategic growth.
Acting as a trusted adviser to clients on biodiversity and natural capital issues.
Mentoring and supporting the development of junior and mid-level biodiversity consultants.
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality consultancy services across international projects.
About You
You are likely to have:
Extensive experience in biodiversity consultancy, with a strong focus on international infrastructure and lender advisory.
Expert knowledge of IFC Performance Standard 6 (PS6) and the Equator Principles.
A proven track record of advising banks, lenders, investors or development finance institutions.
Significant business development experience, with demonstrable success in winning consultancy work and developing long-term client relationships.
An established network within the international lending, investment or sustainable finance community.
Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify new market opportunities.
Excellent technical, report writing and communication skills.
Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and mentoring technical specialists.
Experience gained within an international environmental consultancy, development finance institution or commercial bank would be highly advantageous.
