Are you an experienced Bat Ecologist looking to take the next step in your career with a consultancy that values technical excellence, collaboration and professional development?

My client is seeking a Senior or Principal Bat Ecologist to join its expanding ecology team. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of technically challenging projects while helping to shape ecological solutions across a diverse portfolio of development and infrastructure schemes throughout the UK.

With over 30 years' experience delivering ecological consultancy services, my client offers the stability of an established business combined with the ambition and flexibility of a growing environmental consultancy.

The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced ecologist with strong bat mitigation and EPS licensing experience to play a leading role within a highly regarded ecology team.

You'll manage projects from inception through to completion, working closely with clients, mentoring junior colleagues and delivering practical, commercially focused ecological solutions.

The role offers genuine responsibility, technical variety and clear opportunities for career progression.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage ecological projects from proposal through to completion.
Plan, undertake and oversee bat surveys, impact assessments and mitigation strategies.
Design and deliver bat mitigation schemes in accordance with current best practice.
Produce and technically review high-quality ecological reports.
Mentor and support junior ecologists and contribute to their professional development.
Build and maintain strong client relationships.
Assist with tenders, proposals and business development activities.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary environmental teams across a wide range of projects.
About You
Applicants are likely to have:

Significant experience within UK ecological consultancy.
Strong knowledge of UK habitats, protected species and environmental legislation.
Extensive experience delivering bat surveys, mitigation design and implementation.
A bat survey and/or mitigation licence (highly desirable).
Excellent knowledge of EPS licensing requirements.
Strong technical report writing and quality assurance skills.
Experience managing projects and, ideally, mentoring or leading others.
A degree in Ecology or a related environmental discipline.
A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach to project delivery.
Candidates who have held a bat survey licence for at least three years, together with recent Named Ecologist or Accredited Agent experience, will be of particular interest.

What's on Offer?
Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
Ongoing training, mentoring and career development.
Supportive, collaborative working culture.
Access to modern technology and resources.
Opportunity to work on meaningful projects that deliver positive outcomes for biodiversity and nature recovery.
Interested?
If you're looking for a role where you can combine technical excellence with genuine project ownership and long-term career progression, I'd be delighted to hear from you.
