The Global Corporate Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S) team is predominantly responsible for facilities managed by the Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) function but, also takes responsibility for non-operations sites and subsidiaries as required.

Amazon are hiring an Environmental Compliance Program Manager to manage the development and implementation of GREF’s Global Environmental Compliance (GEC) program, focusing on high-exposure jurisdictions. This role requires an understanding of environmental regulations, environmental risks, and project management. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional and local EHS teams to identify, assess, and mitigate environmental risks, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and minimizing the potential for regulatory action.

Location - London, Manchester, Bristol, Cambridge, Swansea, Edinburgh. Hybrid working, minimum 2 -3 days per week in the office

Responsibilities & Tasks

·         Develop and execute a phased implementation plan for the GEC program, prioritizing high-exposure jurisdictions based on site count and rental space.
·         Conduct thorough environmental baseline assessments, including site-specific risk profiling and inventory of permits and licenses.
·         Map the regulatory landscape for each jurisdiction, identifying applicable environmental requirements.
·         Perform compliance gap analyses, develop corrective action plans, and implement necessary measures to ensure compliance.
·         Establish and implement a compliance management system, including tools for tracking permits, deadlines, and corrective actions.
·         Develop and deliver compliance training programs for GREF-managed site operation teams.
·         Monitor and report on program performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
·         Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including GREF, Corp. EHS&S, Legal, and regional EHS&S teams, to ensure program success.
·         Collaborate with external consultants or legal counsel as needed for regulatory research or compliance support.

 Ideally You Will Have The Following

·         Minimum of bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, or a related field.
·         Minimum of 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in environmental compliance, preferably in a multinational corporation/consultancy.
·         Understanding of environmental regulations in either the UK or US.
·         Good knowledge of risk assessment methodologies.
·         Good project management skills, with experience in leading complex initiatives.
·         Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
·         Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
·         Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
·         Knowledge of compliance management software and systems.
·         Good knowledge of standards and best practices in environmental management.

 About this Opportunity

The successful applicant e will receive specific Amazon training as part of onboarding and be supported by existing TRC employees seconded into GREF.
The contract is 40 hrs./week for a minimum of 12 months following onboarding.
