Happy New Year to one and all.  I hope you have enjoyed a well-earned break and feeling refreshed for the exciting year ahead.

If you are lucky enough to have held off starting back at work until today, then you are no doubt still in a state of bewilderment, whereas those who braved it last week may have gotten over the initial hump and are slowly getting back into the swing of things.

I myself have already experienced a couple of brain freezes today, having been off for what seemed like an eternity, it's amazing what you can forget!  It also amazes me how slow time seems to move, compared to how quickly time during the holidays goes by.  By 11 o'clock today, I felt I had been working away for hours and it must be well past lunch time.

One of my clients suggested last Wednesday was perhaps the UK's most unproductive day with the vast majority of the working population staring aimlessly at their PCs wondering “what is it I do for a living again!?!”

Now it's the afternoon and I have broken the back of most of the emails, I feel that the wheels are beginning to turn and normality will soon resume.

2019 is certainly going to be an interesting year.  We eagerly await to see where we are heading with the latest chapter of the Brexit soap opera.  If only the scriptwriters could release a few spoilers, we may be a little better informed.

I for one have given up worrying too much about what may happen, as all the worrying I did last year has so far not served any purpose.  I think (like a lot of people) we just need to come to a decision and then begin to deal with the implications; good and bad.  No one likes uncertainty, we just want to know what we're dealing with, so we can get on with pushing forward.

Here's to hoping for a positive and healthy 2019.  As a nation we can put our shoulder back to the wheel and continue to make positive impacts, both nationally and globally.
