Ecology, EIA - Environmental Impact Assessment

Posted 4th January 2024

How does a three-day weekend sound? Would you like to work a four-day week and get paid the same as you would for five days?

My client prides themselves on their value lead approach to ecology. They believe passionately in working to the highest standards in the industry and providing their staff with a highly rewarding culture and work/life balance.

Due to their continuing success they are looking for a Senior Ecologist to help in the South West region.  You’ll lead exciting projects, overseeing everything from:

·         Preliminary Ecology Appraisals
·         Ecological Impact Assessments
·         Habitats Regulations Assessments
·         Mitigation Strategies

You  should excel in scoping, designing, and leading ecological surveys, cultivating strong client relationships to secure projects for yourself and the team, and develop an exceptional client and site portfolio. This role involves mentoring emerging consultants and graduates. No two days will be the same.

My client values innovation over convention; the usual route isn't always the chosen path. They care deeply and celebrate loudly. The culture is “a one big family” approach,  always looking for the next big opportunity. Every day is a blend of meaningful work, good laughs, and honest conversations. If you thrive in this kind of setting, then you’ll fit right in.

Location

South-West/Hybrid. Able to travel to either Exeter, Bristol or Cirencester on a regular basis

Ideally You Will Have The Following

My client is not just part of the ecological landscape – they’re elevating it. To join them in setting new standards, you need:

·         Top academic qualifications in ecology or biological sciences.
·         To be a CIEEM member working towards Chartership.
·         In-depth understanding of the legislative and planning policy framework.
·         Excellent survey skills including extended Phase I/UKHabs, specialised species surveys particularly with bats (holding at least a Level 2 Bat Mitigation Licence).
·         Experience liaising with clients, statutory bodies, and LPAs.
·         Proficient verbal and written communication skills, ensuring clarity for both clients and peers.
·         Robust and precise report writing and reviewing capabilities.
·         Exceptional project management skills: leading, mentoring, and making sure projects are delivered on time and within budget, all while exceeding client expectations.
·         A proven track record in business development and securing your own projects.
·         An approach that resonates with our values and fosters collaborative working.
·         A commitment to the pursuit of excellence.
·         A full UK driving licence.

Rewards & Benefits

My client offers the following benefits. They’re unconditional, too. These benefits are offered from day one – regardless of the length of time you have been with them or what level you are joining at.

They care for each and every one of their team and want to go the extra mile for you. These benefits are just the icing on the cake.

·         Competitive salary
·         Life insurance of 3 x salary
·         20 days annual leave, +1 for your Birthday!
·         Up to 2 professional memberships paid
·         A 3-day weekend, every week
·         Access to mental health professionals, support and counselling
·         Contributory pension, matched up to 4%
·         Internal and external funded training
·         Employee assistance programme (EAP)
·         Access to internal and external mentors
·         ....Local, artisanal coffee!
